broken heart hanging on wire

There’s this YouTuber my wife follows—The Minimalist Mom, I think. She has about a million followers, and her channel caught my attention for a few reasons:

  1. She’s a Christian.

  2. She’s a twin—and since I have twin daughters, I’ve always been curious about how twins interact.

  3. Her twin sister is married to an Indian guy. So yeah, kind of interesting.

Other than that, I didn’t know much about her. But today, when I heard she was going through a divorce, for some reason, that just didn’t sit right with me.

Now, divorces are common these days. They don’t really shock anyone anymore.

But this? A strong Christian woman, a successful YouTuber, someone who seemed level-headed and friendly—an embodiment of the Proverbs 31 woman, even…

One would expect her to be a role model for young Christian wives. Yet, here she is, walking through something that just feels… off.

So, what happened?

  • Is it the enemy—Satan trying to tear apart Christian families?

  • Is it the pull of success, money, and YouTube fame?

  • Is it another case of a husband not loving his wife the way Christ loves the Church?

  • Or is it something else entirely?

She mentioned they tried everything—therapy, counseling, meetings with friends, family, pastors—for 16 years. And still… they couldn’t save their marriage.

So, here’s the real question—what does it take to have a successful marriage?

And guys—this one’s for you. Because when a marriage fails, it’s almost always the husband’s fault. 99% of the time. Even when the wife is the one who walks away.

1. Would Christ ever divorce the Church? Or would He allow the Church to divorce Him?

Think about Revelation 3:20. Jesus is talking to the Laodicean church—the one that’s lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, and on the verge of being spat out.

Did Jesus abandon the church and walk away? No.

We see our Lord standing at the door and knocking, waiting for the door to be opened—for the relationship to be restored.

2. Do you take your cues from the World? Or the Word?

Marriage is not a contract—it’s a covenant. Huge difference. Contracts expire. Covenants don’t—they are unbreakable.

That’s why we say: “Till death do us part”—not “Till boredom do us part” or “Till another fling do us part” or “Till my ego or hardened heart do us part.”

Marriage is for life. Period. No matter what culture, media, or influencers say.

3. The Real Reason: Hardened Hearts

Our Lord addressed divorce in Matthew 19—and gave the one and only one reason for divorce: the hardness of man’s heart.

And a hardened heart is never a good thing in the Bible. If you have one, you can bet your bottom dollar that God is not on your side.

So, Men, If Your Marriage Is Crumbling…

Look at the man in the mirror.

  • Do you love your wife the way Christ loved the Church?

  • Do you understand that marriage is a covenant—an unbreakable, till-death-do-us-part covenant?

  • And lastly, do you have a hardened heart? Would you ask God to give you a new, tender one?

A Godly Wife Is Priceless.

If you are married to a God-fearing woman, you’d be a fool to keep the house and let her go. On the other hand, if you’re single and looking to marry, don’t rush into it. Think, pray, and choose wisely. And once you say, 'I do,' have the spine to stick it out till the end."
